Luxurious Italian Bedroom Furniture

November 18th, 2009

Furniture design gets a lot of influences either with historical periods or a geographical influence like Oriental designs, Japanese-inspired furnitures.  One of the elegant influences considered in this day and age is the Italian inspiration.

Popular designer Wesley Allen has released their exquisite italian designs for bedroom furnitures which could create bold statements of romance.  With the popularity of Do It Yourself projects, designers are now releasing furnitures in modules so that the customer will have the freedom to assemble and create their own look using pre-built furniture.  Italian inspired headboards can have a variety of materials which can be made of heavy gauge iron with hand applied finishes – now that brass is passé or a thing of the past.  This type of headboard is easy to care for since it requires only occasional wiping with soft, damp cloth.  Chemical-based cleaners or polishers should never be used on this material as dirt does not embed on this type of iron and only accumulates surface dust.

This type of headboard also uses specialized technique in assembly.  The pieces are meticulously welded together but each joint is embellished with decorative castings which are applied directly on to the iron material to make a solid one-piece headboard.  This actually adds strength to the final product keeping it robust and expected to last for a very long time.  Since these pieces are handmade, each item will have a distinct and unique look.  Despite the processes that items undergo, all processes are assured to emit zero pollutants making this line of furniture to be absolutely environmentally friendly.

How To Clean Your Tufted Headboard

October 20th, 2009

headboard_02Tufted headboards were quite popular in the seventies and eighties, and as expected in the fashion world, found its way back in year 2000. Designers nowadays have taken a lot of interest in these headboards, creating their own distinctive look to their client’s desire using materials that they see fit which may have solids or patterns, may be made of velvet or silk. One of the challenges of maintaining a stylish bedroom is keeping everything the headboard tidy. Cleaning your tufted headboard mainly depends on the material used. If you have a leather tufted headboard, you first need to determine the finish of the leather before proceeding with cleaning. If you have finished leather, you need to put a small amount of moisturizing soap on a damp cloth. Bring this to lather before rubbing on to the leather without using too much water. Wipe away the lather with a fresh damp cloth and then polish with a dry towel. Treat the leather with conditioner. If your leather is unfinished, you will need to use damp cloth or sponge to rub saddle soap onto the leather. Wipe away the lather and allow to air dry. Oil the leather with preservative to keep the quality of the leather. If you use fabric like canvas, there are a lot of spray-on cleaners available in the market. Otherwise, an option would be to use a dry cleaning agent and brush. On top of that, a vacuum will be handy to take out all dusts and cleaning residues.
